Screenwriter MARK STEVEN JOHNSON has been in much demand since selling Warner Bros. his first screenplay, "Grumpy Old Men," which went on to become a hit movie starring Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. He also wrote the sequel, "Grumpier Old Men," and more recently, "Big Bully." Johnson recently made his directing debut with the critically praised "Simon Birch," which he adapted from John Irving's A Prayer For Owen Meany.

Born and raised in Hastings, Minnesota, Johnson attended Winona State University and California State University at Long Beach, graduating with a bachelor's degree in film.
